Description
For my birthday, my friends, took me up to a point where there was a great vista of the Three Sisters Mountains and we picnicked and waited for the full moon to rise.
The three Sisters are the 3rd, 4th and 5th highest peaks in the state of Oregon and are volcanic peaks. The North sister erupted about 100,000 years ago, while the Middle Sister erupted about 50,000 years ago; both are considered extinct. There are also glaciers - best known is Collier which is retreating. The South Sister (Charity) last erupted 2000 years ago. It began to bulge in 1997 so there was concern it was awakening, but the uplift had slowed by 2007 and in 2013, measurements indicated growth had slowed to a rate of about .3 inches per year compared to 2 inches in the early 2000s.
This is the moon rising and the North Sister.

Nature, animals, beauty have been a source of nourishment throughout my life. Photography allows me to capture, interpret, and share that world of wonder I see about me, and sometimes use what I capture as an inspiration to create something new, by incorporating other exposures, textures or brushwork.
I currently reside in Oregon, an environment rich in nature's graces. I have lived in California and New York, too, and everywhere there is a world of beauty around us, if we care to take the time and look for it.
